Pesticide Applicator Training & Recertification Course

CORE Training from 8:45 AM to 12:30PM        DEC Examination begins at 1:30 PM

This training session is geared for individuals planning to take the CORE and Category Pesticide Certification Exam specific to the focus of their work.  Also, CORE Recertification credits have been applied for.  You must bring your Pesticide Certification ID card with you. 

The instructor will be Sharon Bachman.  Topics of discussion are:  Pesticide Applicator Certification, State Laws and Regulations, Federal Pesticide Laws,

Types of Pesticides, The Label, Formulations, Filling & Mixing, Calculations for Mixing Pesticides, Equipment, Calibration, Weather-Wise Application, Disposal, Storage, Record Keeping and Liability, IPM & Pests, Toxicity of Pesticides, Residue, Tolerance and REgistration, Ecology & Environment Considerations, Safety Precautions, Personal Protection for the Applicator & Worker, and Pesticide Poisoning-Symptoms and first aid.

CHECKLIST

1.  NYSDEC requires advance registration to be eligible to take the CORE certification exam.  If you plan to take the exam, you must contact NYSDEC Pesticide Division at 716-851-7220 to discuss eligibility.  If you are eligible, DEC will send you a sign-up packet, which you fill out and return to them with your examination fee.  You must be pre-registered with DEC to take the exam.  No walk-ins will be allowed into the exam.  If you have any questions regarding your certification, please contact DEC.

2.  Contact the Ag Office at CCE, Warsaw to purchase any manuals you may need.  CORE Manuals are $35 each.  The commercial category manuals are also $35 each.  The Private Category Manuals are $30 each.  We have most of these in the office and we order on a weekly basis.  It's best to get your manuals as soon as possible.  Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

3.  Pre-register with the Ag Office at CCE for the training session.  The cost is $XXXXX for Ag Program Enrollees and $XXXXX for non-enrollees.  The registration deadline is March 26, 2010.  To register, or if you have any questions, please call the Ag Office at 585-786-2251 or email cjk84@cornell.edu.
