Saintpaul is a globally distributed serovar. Reports of _S._ Saintpaul have increased recently, these reports have found that [turkeys |http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2876473/]and ground turkey are important sources of _S._ Saintpaul. In addition, in several countries, _S._ Saintpaul have caused large outbreaks associated with produce (e.g., [cucumbers|http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/saintpaul-04-13/index.html], [alfalfa sprouts|http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/saintpaul-alfalfa/index.html], [peppers|http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/saintpaul-jalapeno/index.html]). In Germany, a clonal line with a multidrug resistant phenotype was found in turkeys and human feces.
