This Excel worksheet models total costs for active (dynamic) and inactive (static) storage options at Cornell. It compares the Cornell page contains models to compare Cornell Shared File Service (SFS) with various AWS Storage options. Remember to consider more than just financial costs when picking a storage option. Consider access times when comparing SFS versus AWS storage; access to SFS from on-campus locations will almost always be faster than accessing AWS from on campus. SFS also presents storage as CIFS or NFS shares for direct mounting to VMs.The model:
