Compensation

AguaClara Engineer salary is $1150 per month paid monthly in advance by APP. AguaClara Engineers will be paid the first $1150 when they arrive at the APP office. If the last month is not a full month the final payment at the beginning of that month will be prorated. AguaClara Engineers will not receive any extra allowance for living expenses, hotels or travel. It is expected that most of the salary will be spent on expenses related to living in Honduras. AguaClara Engineers are responsible to pay for their Primary health plan and for Travel health insurance. With careful planning it should be possible to pay for a trip home during the end of the year holidays.

Health Insurance

Cornell recommends

  1. medical benefits of at least $50,000 per accident or illness
  2. a deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness

Insurance can be obtained from a number of providers. Cornell University recommends the use of insure my trip.com. Insure my trip lists several options including Travel Major Medical Policies.
These policies are designed for travelers who are going abroad for at least 6 months and require more permanent insurance. These plans provide comprehensive medical protection including emergency medical treatment, wellness care and optional prescription drug coverage. Like most major medical policies, these plans contain both in and out of network coverage, deductibles and co-payments and have the added travel benefits of accidental death and emergency medical evacuation protection.
