eVerify. OHR needs to lookup the individual in a federal system to ensure that their SSN is correct and that they are work eligible.  
This is beyond I-9 requirements and Cornell has elected an option available only to institutions of higher education where only those
individuals on the particular federal contracts need to be verified.   Outside of higher ed all employees of a federal contractor must be verified.
