If the item is of a file extension that is not known to the Ares system it will be placed in
"Awaiting File Type Resolution." . The staff person selects this status and can then choose the
"Lookup Document Type" button to be taken to a web site that will give the staff person more
information on this extension. The default site is www.filext.com but can be customized in
the "LookupFileExtensions" key. If this file extension is acceptable, then the Approve Item
button can be clicked to post the item to the web site where it can be viewed, or the item can
be canceled.
There is also a "View Item" button to view the item to make sure it is viewable and accept-
able. Clicking on the item in the list opens the Item Detail form if so the user needs to may see details
about the item.
The Ares system has a Document Type table in the Ares Administration Suite that lists
acceptable file extensions for your Ares system. After reviewing the item that has a new but
accepted file extension, you can add an entry for that extension so future items will be accepted
by Ares. There is a "Force Review" section of the table that still allows staff review of those
file types that might need to be checked for appropriateness, size, etc.
