Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Tennessee (antigenic formula 6,7,14:z29:[1,2,7]) is a serovar of the O:7 (C1) serogroup. From 1995 to 2004, an average of 52 Salmonella Tennessee cases were reported to the National Salmonella Surveillance System each every year.
