General Info
Logins are restricted to users physically located at the Cornell NanoScale Facility or connected via VPN.
All users (and staff) login with a Cornell NetID or a Cornell GuestID.
Your AFS home folder and the lab transfer shares can both be accessed. Depending on your Remote Desktop client, you may also redirect local drives to the remote computer. And cloud based file services such as Box.com, google drive, etc are all available via web browser. WinSCP is also available for remote transfer of files.
Files saved locally on the remote computer will be deleted when the computer reboots.
Idle sessions will auto disconnect after 6 hours and auto logoff after 2 days.
Logging in from CNF Thin (Linux)
- Go to the Applications menu
- Go to the Utilities submenu
- Choose Remote Desktop Viewer
- In the Remote Desktop VIewer window, click Connect
- For Protocol, choose RDP
- For the hostname, type in: rs-cnf-3gwin.cnf.cornell.edu
- Under RDP Options, choose:
- Check the Scaling button
- For Username, type in your Cornell NetID or GuestID
- For Domain, in all caps type in: CORNELL
- For the Width, we recommend: 1280
- For the Height, we recommend: 1024
- Click Connect
- For the Certificate, the Subject will be blank and the Issuer will be: DC = edu, DC= cornell, CN= Cornell University Intermediate CA.
- Click Connect
- Enter your NetID or GuestID password. We do NOT recommend clicking Remember this credential
- Resize the window as appropriate.
