Nadine Aubry , is University Distinguished Professor and Dean of the
Northeastern University College of Engineering at Northeastern University, and is known for her
contributions to the field of fluid dynamics. Aubry was elected to themechanics. She is a member of the National Academy
of Engineering (NAE) and a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, the
and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers,
the American Association for the Advancement of Science , (AAAS) and the
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. She

has held or is holding a number of national and international leadership

positions, including Chair of the National Academies’ U.S. National

President of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Chair of the AmericanPhysical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics, and
Section Secretary of the NAE mechanical engineering section, Chair of the
NAE’s Frontiers of Engineering Education Advisory Committee. Recently, she was

elected as President of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied

Mechanics. Before joining Northeastern, she was the Raymond J. Lane

Distinguished Professor, University Professor and head of the Department of

Mechanical , and member of the
International Council for Science as well as various NAE committees. She
is the recipient of the 2017 G.I. Taylor Medal of the Society of Engineering
Science. Prior to joining Northeastern, Aubry was Head of Mechanical
Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Aubry holds a She grew up in France and
holds a Diplôme d’Ingenieur from Institut National Polytechnique Institute
Grenoble, a Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies from Université Grenoble Alpes,
and a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell Universityfrom the Sibley School at Cornell.
