Info mostly for ChemIT staff, due to security restrictions on the tools used. Procedure is useful in situations where an instrument computer in 10-space must temporarily be given full internet access (for vendor access, say). |

Procedure
- Find system's IP address. Use ChemIT inventory, CU AD, or go to the machine itself:

- How to find your computer's MAC address (and IP address)
- Go to DNS DB to change the IP address.
Click on "Host list" at our CIT network Network tools page.- Confirm the current IP address
- Determine new address (including subnet change, if any)
- Edit the subnet for the IP Address
- Note available address number (10.space, different regular, etc.).
- Find and edit the existing DNS entry.
- Change the IP address and save.
- Alternatively, delete old DNS entry.
- Note all DNS data entries - MAC address, CNames, notes, etc.
- Delete existing DNS entry.
- Create new DNS entry with an available address on the desired subnet.
- Add all needed info from the original DNS entry.
