Process to order, and template

Scan the completed. signed form

Scan into a PDF the signed Form-85 and email it, as an attachment, to CIT <ezbackup>.

Email the form

Send it from our <crcf> EGA (not <chemit> or our own NetID) so our team gets confirmation email without generating a Remedy ticket ourselves.

Example message:

--------------------------------------

From: <crcf>You!
Sent:
 Thursday, January 8, 2015 11:47 AM
To: EZ-Backup Mailbox <ezbackup@cornell.edu>
Subject: Create NetID.LAPTOP.EZBACKUP

...

  • In the Subject line, Include the node name, along with action desired, such as:
    • Create (for a new node)
    • Cancel node
    • Change node
    • Change billing
  • In the body of the email, WE MUST ENTER:
    • The sender's name and NetID (both REQUIRED), since sending from an EGA. That's YOUR name/ NetID.
    • Our group's phone number (preferred), 255-6278.
  • Recognize this process is not optimal since when we do it this way, CIT can't easily look up our EGA, or any of our individual NetIDs for these EZ-Backup requests. You can instead send it from your own NetID, if the above considerations represents a problem in the context of your specific submission request. But that's not optimal since others in the others in our group won't have any record of CIT's Remedy ticket associated with your request.

...

    • MS recommends against us using an EGA <crcf> to resolve this since introduces other problems.

Additional notes:

  • Helpful if different processes were submitted as different requests (e.g. new node requests and node cancellations requests should each be treated as separate requests).
  • See text template, available only to TSPs (not public).

Above info informed by conversation in Remedy tickets INC000000999507 and INC000001002186, between Oliver and Randy at CIT, Dec. 2013.
